Cubit SES Limited was established in 2013 by Andy Knowles and Andrew Mengel. We provide high-quality services to suit the individual needs and requirements of our clients. With over 68 years’ hands on experience in both the residential and commercial sectors of the construction industry we bring in depth knowledge to our services and respective clients.
Over 36 years’ experience in the construction industry
Andy began his construction career in 1986 as a trainee surveyor at Barnwood Builders, a local main contractor in Gloucester. After 6 years gaining experience and completion of a construction HNC he moved to a Major civils and groundworks sub-contractor as an estimator and senior surveying for the next eight years working on multi million-pound projects across South Wales, Southern and Central England.
Then Followed a move to Barratt Homes as Senior Surveyor responsible for the financial management for large scale housing and infrastructure projects in the Southwest then moves to McCarthy and Stone and Cabot Homes successfully managing the finances large scale apartment projects in Bristol.
From April 2007 Andy formed Cubit Surveying providing commercial assistance to various Contractors, Developers and Sub-Contractors including Sweet Construct and Galliford Try Construction Southwest commercial managing several multi million pound Data Centre building projects.
In April 2013 with fellow Director, Andrew Mengel, Andy formed Cubit SES Ltd. a Quantity Surveying and Estimating practice offering estimating and surveying services to contractors, developers, builders and subcontractors.
Over 34 years’ experience in the construction industry
Andrew began his career as a trainee surveyor at Try Construction back in 1987. Completing his Ordinary and Higher National Certificates in Building Studies on a day release basis whilst gaining considerable work experience, he quickly moved to assistant surveyor and, by the end of the HNC studies, progressed to Contract Surveyor. After nearly 10 years with Try Construction Ltd, Andrew moved to Hall & Tawse City for a short spell, following which a move to a demolition subcontractor and then back to Mansell. In 1999, nearly 4 years after leaving Try Construction, Andrew re-joined as a Senior Surveyor. 2006 saw Andrew move west with a local contractor and, by 2007 joined Bovis Lend Lease as Commercial Manager to work on the prestigious £300 million St David’s 2, Cardiff development. Following completion of the development in 2010, Andrew re-join Galliford Try whom had opened up a Bristol office where Andrew worked with Andy Knowles of Cubit Surveying. Cubit SES Ltd was formed in 2013.
